Dundee placed in world’s top 100 for research quality

The University of Dundee is one of the world’s top 100 universities for research quality, according to a major survey released today (June 19). The Nature Index 2019 tracks contributions to research articles published in 82 high-quality natural science journals, chosen by an independent group of researchers. For the first time, the Nature Index has produced a normalised ranking which takes an institution’s size into account when calculating the output of high-quality research. Five University of Dundee students will attempt to make waves in the world of rowing this weekend when they take part in one of the UK’s top elite rowing competitions. For the first time in 14 years, the Dundee University Boat Club, who train on a stretch of the River Tay between Dundee and Perth affectionately known as ‘the swamp’, are sending a female crew to compete at Henley Women’s Regatta. The University of Dundee is challenging the technologists of tomorrow to explore the Artificial Intelligence used by the likes of Alexa and Siri to help people with the most complex disabilities. S2 pupils from across the East of Scotland will face off in the University’s annual Strathmore Trophy computing competition on Monday 24 June. Sixteen schools will be represented at this year’s competition. Graduation week brings double delight for Yvonne

A University of Dundee lecturer will watch on with pride as her son graduates from the institution this week – only to do the same herself 48 hours later. Dr Yvonne Wedekind will collect her Masters in Medical Education in the Caird Hall on Friday, just two days after watching her son, Nadeem, graduate with a First Class MA in English and Film.
