Witnesses required for oar-some world record attempt

A team of University of Dundee students are attempting to set a Guinness World Record this week and are asking for help from members of the public. The team of 12 student rowers are aiming to set the record for ‘Distance rowed by 12 females on a single indoor machine within the period of 24 hours’ and they need at least eight witnesses to watch them in two-hour shifts during the attempt. Dundee expert to feature in CBBC documentary

A University of Dundee researcher will star in a new CBBC documentary tonight. Dr Paul O’Mahoney, a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant from Dundee’s School of Medicine, will feature in an episode of ‘My Life: Into the Sun’. The programme shares the highs and lows of two young children, Alice Tyson from the UK and Thapelo Mothibe from South Africa, who both have the same rare skin disease. Could heart drug help lung disease patients?

Drugs traditionally used to treat blood pressure and heart disease are to be given to lung disease patients to see if they can be beneficial, in a trial involving the Universities of Aberdeen and Dundee. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a long term lung disease due to smoking that slowly gets worse and affects 1.2 million people in the UK. It is the fifth leading cause of death in the UK, resulting in 30,000 fatalities a year. Exscientia announces new AI pharma collaboration

Dundee students breathe new life into rare texts

Historic texts held by the University of Dundee have been dusted down by a group of students to kick-start a creative chain reaction. Students from the English department’s MLitt Writing Practice and Study course have sought inspiration from historic books and poems to create new works, before asking students from the University’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (DJCAD) to illustrate them.
